The Sacred In-Between

Cornwall, England | September 2023

Bridges serve as an excellent metaphor in life, as we often find ourselves in a transitory space moving from one thing to the next. Rarely are we ever standing completely still, especially in this Great Age of Distraction. We are constantly crossing bridges—between old versions of ourselves and new ones, between endings and beginnings, between grief and healing, fear and understanding, uncertainty and growth. In many ways, life itself is a continual dance of death and rebirth—not only in the physical sense, but through the countless inner transformations we experience along the way. To honor these cycles is to honor life itself.

In my previous blog post about pathways, I reflected on how each of us walks a unique spiritual path. Along these pathways, we inevitably encounter bridges—moments of transition that ask us to trust the unknown and continue forward even when the destination is not yet fully visible. Some bridges appear exciting and expansive, while others emerge during seasons of challenge, loss, or deep personal change. Yet often, it is these very crossings that shape us most profoundly. They invite us to release what no longer serves us while creating space for something new to emerge. My friend Shannon refers to these as “River Crossing Moments,” and I absolutely love that description.

This transitory space can feel uncomfortable at times because it exists between what was and what will be. It is the sacred “in-between.” Nature teaches us the wisdom of these cycles constantly: the setting and rising sun, the changing seasons, the tides, the falling leaves before new growth arrives once more. We, too, are cyclical beings. There is wisdom in allowing ourselves to grieve what is ending while remaining open to the possibilities waiting on the other side of the bridge. It is equally important to honor and process these endings so we are not carrying unresolved pain or unprocessed trauma that may eventually spill outward into our relationships with ourselves and others.

At Celestial Pathways, Angela and I deeply honor the uniqueness of every individual journey and the bridges each person may currently be facing. One powerful tool we offer to support this process is Mindscaping—a transformative approach that can help bring clarity, insight, healing, and forward movement during times of transition. Whether you are navigating a major life shift, releasing old patterns, exploring your spiritual path, or standing at the threshold of a new chapter, Mindscaping can serve as a supportive guide as you move through these sacred crossings and continue unfolding into the next stage of your journey. After all, it is often in crossing these bridges that we discover not only where we are going, but who we are becoming along the way.
